SOLD “The Promise of Spring” (104)

Painted in July, 2026. 8”x10”.

Acrylic on stretched canvas.  Price $100.00 Cdn. Unframed

When our neighbour Winnie shared some photos of crocus blooms from her garden, I thought they would make a beautiful series of paintings. The purple crocuses are my favourite and are the sign that early Spring has arrived.  On the coast, flowers start blossoming in late January and early February, a sign that the winter months are behind us – even if the rain isn’t.

I chose to do a small painting (8”x10”), something that would fit in a kitchen corner or hallway nook.  The dark background makes the fresh colours of leaves and crocus blooms really pop in the painting.  I also enjoyed the various abstract shapes created by buds at different stages of bloom and the texture of the blade like leaves that the crocuses sprout from.

This painting sold a few days after I finished it, so I didn’t have a long time to enjoy it brightening my kitchen wall.
