Summer Memories. Painted October 2020. 16″ x 16″. Acrylic on Canvas. $256 Canadian. No Frame.
Several years ago, we stopped in to visit my Maggie in her backyard in Calgary. Not only was the company great, but it was a beautiful summer afternoon with a great view of a nesting robin. I’ve been wanting to paint this scene for a while, the colours were great, but I felt intimidated by the challenge of painting the tangled nest and the light soaking through the leaves. It turned out to be a much more enjoyable process than I expected. I especially loved how the leaves turned out. I am still struggling with soft edges in this painting, but it still puts a smile on my face when I look at it hanging in my bird gallery in the Art Studio.
