In early Spring, we cleared an acre of blackberry brambles in preparation for cabin building. I wasn’t sure what would re-establish itself over the summer, but I didn’t expect to see a number of tall wild sunflowers. Since we needed to have some art in the Utility Shed that we built a month ago (nic-named the “Love Shack”), I took some reference photos and decided to make sunflowers the theme of my first landscape of the Twin Eagles Bluff. The sunflower looms over the Eagle Tree protectively, which is currently occupied by a mating pair of Eagles and their two awesomely bickering juvenile chicks. I’m looking forward to plenty more paintings inspired by the acreage, the ocean, the beach and the forest.
