Painted August 2023. 12”x12”. Acrylic on Stretched Canvas. $175.00 Canadian.
After a busy summer, I found time to do some painting. My last painting had been difficult as it required a lot of details (horse, saddle and figure riding the horse). For this painting I chose a picture of a chicken with beautiful plumage which I painted with simple strokes of the brush. I kept the background simple and non-descript. I call this kind of painting a “palette cleanser”. I’m learning a faster and more assured approach to completing paintings like this. I still spend time working out composition issues and produce a sketch, but I go into the painting process with a clear plan. I had this painting hanging in my kitchen for several years. When I opened up my studio for the qathet Studio Tours, this painting was purchased within hours. Sometimes simple is better!
