Even bears get bored with digging for grubs or stripping blackberries off bushes. This September we learned an important lesson. Do NOT leave inflatables out where the bears can find them. We lost two rubber rafts and an inflatable lounger this summer. It was clear that an animal had bitten into them, but it wasn’t until we caught this bear on our camera that we were sure who to blame.
It was unfortunate that we lost both rafts, but the video also brought home to me the importance of taking time out to play. Life can be full of day-to-day minutia. We become overly focused on day jobs, house cleaning, yard work or social obligations. Sometimes we need to just stop and play, for no other purpose than for the sheer joy it. These moments are rarely planned, but when they arise, they are gems worth collecting. Watch this video and tell me that you aren’t caught up in the sheer joy that this bear is experiencing. Remember, sometimes it pays to be the bear!
