“Silver apple in sunshine.”   (76)

Painted in Dec, 2024.  14”x11”.  Acrylic on stretched canvas.  Price $140.00 Cdn. – unframed.

Glass and highly reflective surfaces are a challenge with acrylic paint. It’s hard to blend and when you add white, the paint often feels flat. For this challenge, I chose a small metallic apple Christmas decoration and put it on the kitchen counter in direct morning sunlight. This created some interesting shadows on the counter and a lot of reflected light off the apple. Every time I do a painting like this, I gain more skills and techniques that will come in handy when I start painting bigger paintings. This one took about six hours to paint.
